On Silence

Immersed in the noise
of your own making
where proof of progress
lends your life meaning,

deep in the
hustle of adventure
where doing has no
presence for being,

in between the noise,

in the stillness of silence,

do you hear the sound
of your own true voice?

3 ideas + 3 questions on silence, from me.

In the dedicated pursuit of achievement, you may find yourself caught in an ocean of noise, both in your inner and outer worlds. When doing comes easy and is plentiful, you may find being does and is, not. Doing can be an unhelpful distraction from being. An absence of being may be an avoidance to finding deeper connection to your true nature. When you surrender to the stillness of silence no doing is required. Being will find and greet you in your stillness. In these interludes of silence, soul’s most profound truths emerge. This week, we enter the dance between silence and noise, uncovering new insights for living a harmoniously well-imagined life.

Let Go of the Noise:

  1. A Canvas of Silence. Imagine silence is a canvas upon which you paint your being in solitude.

  2. A Gateway to Inner World. Imagine silence is a gateway to your inner world. Enter in silence and you are greeted with infinite possibility, inspiration, imagination and adventure.

  3. The Superpower of Silence. Imagine silence is a profoundly active state of deep listening you use to increase your capacity to pay attention, observe and engage with your inner and outer worlds.

Surrender to the Silence:

  1. Practice Daily. What practice can you start today to engage with silence, daily?

  2. Identify Distractions. What distractions of your outer world keep you from engaging with the silence and your inner world?

  3. Let Go of Noise. What areas of resistance currently showing up as noise in your life, are you ready to let go of once and for all today?

3 insights on silence, from others.

The quieter you become, the more you are able to hear.

Real silence, deep silence, is something that comes when the mind is free of thought, free of every form of psychological memory.

Silence is not merely an absence of noise. Real silence begins when a reasonable being withdraws from the noise in order to find peace and order in his inner sanctuary.
