On Uncertainty

In the absence
of clarity
let uncertainty
be your confidence.

Let it be
the intangible proof,
the one
that does not
need a why.

Let it be
a kind of familiarity
the unknown is offering
you to,
when all direction is lost.

Someplace,
sometime else, you’d find
something different.

Here, find yourself
one foot at a time,
one step after another,
wandering through the beauty
of the wilderness.

3 ideas + 3 questions on certainty, from me.

If you are dealing with a considerable amount of uncertainty and the experience is not giving you a good enough reason to enjoy your life, you are really missing out. Uncertainty brings depth to your life. Uncertainty brings you to your edge. At your edge, you are prone to experience the most opportunity for your growth. In support of your growth, here are a few ideas to get inside the depth of uncertainty:

Your instructions: Pick One Prompt. Book 30 minutes in your calendar. Start by getting into your body (e.g. do 50 jumping jacks or 100 burpees). Open your journal. Flip to a fresh page. Start a timer. Write continuously. Focus on flow before form. Creativity before structure. Do not stop writing until the timer goes off. Write beyond the timer if you are inspired to do so.

  1. Prompt 1: Write the following prompt at the top, start the timer and free write until the timer goes off: One Hundred Ways Uncertainty Fills My Life With Enjoyment.

  2. Prompt 2: Write the following prompt at the top, start the timer and free write until the timer goes off: One Hundred Ways Uncertainty Fills My Life With Confidence.

  3. Prompt 3: Write the following prompt at the top, start the timer and free write until the timer goes off: One Hundred Ways Uncertainty Fills My Life With Clarity.

Three questions for your inquiry of uncertainty:

  1. What do you do to ensure you never have to experience uncertainty?

  2. If you let go of avoiding uncertainty, what would happen?

  3. Who would you be if you enjoyed and invited uncertainty into your life?

3 insights on certainty, from others.

When nothing is sure, everything is possible.

Margaret Drabble

The quest for certainty blocks the search for meaning. Uncertainty is the very condition to impel man to unfold his powers.

Erich Fromm

Uncertainty is the only certainty there is, and knowing how to live with insecurity is the only security.
