On Possibility

There’s a place
in your inner world where
everything is possible,

it’s in the same place where
nothing is impossible,

it’s the place from which
possibilities are born.

3 ideas + 3 questions on possibility.

A possibility is a promising vision for the future. A possibility is an idea awakened by the imagination, born to be believed in and actualized. A possibility is not yet a probability and definitely not a fact. A possibility escapes certainty with a confidence in uncertainty. A possibility is a message from the unknown delivered with curiosity. A possibility is accompanied by the belonging of multiplicities. Possibilities knock down the walls of scarcity and open the heart to abundance and prosperity. When skepticism inhabits the potential for probabilities, possibilities restore optimism in the incredibility. With kindness, playfulness, joyfulness and sincerity, possibilities revel in the potential of the impossibilities.

Explore possibility every day for the next week:

  1. Choose one area of your life where you have exhausted all possibilities.

  2. For the next seven days, spend 10 minutes a day spontaneously writing about new possibilities in this area.

    • Before you begin writing each day, remember yourself: your assignment is to embody possibility as a practice. Open up your mind. Get read to enjoy the process of hanging out in your imagination. There are no rules and restrictions to imagining new possibilities. Imagine the impossible is possible.

  3. At the end of seven days, review the possibilities you’ve created. Read them out loud and notice how its feels.

3 questions for your contemplation of possibility:

  1. How does possibility awaken your imagination?

  2. How does possibility transform your relationship to uncertainty?

  3. How does scarcity have authority over your engagement with possibility?

3 insights on possibility:

In the beginner's mind there are many possibilities, but in the expert's mind, there are few.

The only way to discover the limits of the possible is to go beyond them into the impossible.

Possibilities are always more interesting than facts. We shouldn’t frown on fact, but our world is congested with them. Facts are retarded possibilities, they are possibilities that have already been actualised. But for every fact that becomes a fact, there are seven, eight, maybe five hundred possibilities hanging around in the background that didn’t make it in to the place where they could be elected and realised as the actual fact. It is very interesting to look at what you consider real and to think that it is always peopled by a background presence of unrealised possibilities.
