On Balance

If balance was here
in an infinite supply and
everything you need
was available for you to
use in equal portions right now,
would you recognize it?
And what would you do about it?

3 ideas + 3 questions on balance, from me.

Balance is about learning to choose to use what you need in equal portions. Life provides the experiences we need for learning what appropriate use of a thing means for each of us. Balance can take a lifetime to master. Each new experience is an opportunity to apply understanding, calibrate and create balance.

3 ideas on balance:

  1. Balance exists in at least three dimensions. First, the exterior world (i.e. balance in your body, relationships and lifestyle). Second the interior world (i.e. balance in your mind and spirit). Third, bridging the two worlds (e.g. balance between your mind and work). Each experience is an opportunity to explore and understand balance within and between each of these three dimensions.

  2. Your life grows and evolves with each new experience. Growth has a lot to do with flexibility and your capacity to adapt your life to your experiences. Your conversation with balance is similarly dynamic. It flows to where your experiences are. Continuously calibrate your relationship to balance so it supports maximum growth and development in every experience.

  3. Too little, too much or not enough is not balance. Too much of a good thing, too much of a bad thing, or too much of anything is not the secret recipe to creating balance into your life.

Plus, three questions:

  1. Why is balance an important thing for you to create in your life?

  2. What is the relationship between balance and abundance?

  3. Where are you using more of what you need and how is it bringing more balance into your life?

3 insights on balance, from others.

Next to love, balance is the most important thing.

John Wooden

Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance, you must keep moving.

Albert Einstein

In all aspects of our lives, balance is key. Doing one thing too much can cause upset; like the old saying goes, everything in moderation is the secret!" –
