On Inconsistency

You plan
to make a plan
you can show up to,
to consistently deliver
according to plan.

You deliver
with consistency,
consistently
according to plan.

Your progress
is impossible to measure
without some measurable
degree of inconsistency.

3 ideas + 3 questions on inconsistency, from me.

Consistency is about achieving an unwavering level of performance over time. Consistency is about bringing new behaviours (e.g. routines, habits, & goals) to your daily actions to help you bring big dreams to life. Consistency is a foundation for your growth and development.

While you often achieve a high level of performance, not everything proceeds according to plan in the daily journey of bringing big dreams to life. Wavering levels of performance and other unplanned inconsistencies appear in your daily pursuit of excellence.

You may declare: if I focus on increasing consistency and eliminating inconsistency, I will get better, faster.

Rather than seeing inconsistency as something you need to eliminate to make your life better, to help you get where you need to go faster. Experiment with reframing your view. Your experience of inconsistency has its benefits. It reminds you to be flexible, adaptable, spontaneous, and creative. It challenges you to reach out of your comfort zone. Experiment. Allow for unplanned departures from your routines, habits and goals. Inconsistency helps you let go of your dreams a bit. It shows you how important your dreams really are to you. The unplanned detours of life often lead to unexpected opportunities and insights.
